About Maddie
Dear TBE community. My name is Madelyn Sanom, but everyone calls me Maddie. I am 13 years old and I have been dancing for a decade. I love to dance, finding joy in the music and seeing my friends at the dance studio. My favorite type of dance is contemporary, it is super cool because it mixes different styles like ballet, jazz, and modern dance. It’s all about expressing yourself and telling a story through your movements. I am on the competitive dance team and look forward to our competitions each spring.
My passion for dance is matched by enthusiasm for learning, especially in social studies. I am in the seventh grade and I attend Pollard Middle School in Needham. This year, we are learning about types of religions and cultures. I enjoy comparing them to Judaism; there are so many similarities.
My brother, Eli Sanom, is 16. My parents are a lot older than that! My brother really likes music and plays the saxophone in the Needham High School Jazz Band. He also plays volleyball and is always traveling for weekend tournaments.
Helping my community is very important and I have always enjoyed participating in the social action opportunities at TBE. In particular, this year I volunteered on a number of Sundays’ to assemble soup kits for the homeless. Having my bat mitzvah has been a lot of work and it makes me feel responsible and proud.
